PRAVAAH WORKSPACE BY THE GRID ARCHITECTS: SYMBOLIZING ‘FLOW’
Pravaah, a word derived from Sanskrit meaning ‘flow’ or ‘fluidity,’ is a symbol for the continuous movement of time, ideas, energy, and materials. This concept is deeply ingrained in the architecture of the Pravaah workspace, designed by The Grid Architects as a real estate development site office in Gujarat, India. Centered on achieving equilibrium with the environment, the office hub integrates form and function into one curvilinear design, evoking the fluidity of ideas and materials. This approach not only provides a sustainable workspace but also harmonizes it with the site’s ecological surroundings. The project’s sustainable dimension is emphasized by the use of locally produced ferrocement as the primary construction material.
A BIOPHILIC, ALL-WHITE HUB EMBRACING INDIA’S SOUTH WEST CLIMATE
The team at The Grid Architects developed the Pravaah workspace as a multifaceted structure that embodies core principles of contextual relevance, innovative design, and integrating natural resources in line with a biophilic philosophy. Its design takes into account the unique climate of South West India, featuring strategically placed openings and skylights for natural ventilation and illumination. 
Additionally, the architects populated the exteriors with drought-resistant plants and water bodies for a serene, sustainable, and cohesive landscape aesthetic. One of the project’s pivotal aspects was the deliberate choice of a single construction material: locally produced ferrocement, expertly crafted by skilled local artisans in a short timeframe. This decision not only significantly reduced carbon emissions but also empowered the local workforce. Moreover, unlike a superficial application, this material became part of the workspace’s core, emphasizing its eco-friendly value and setting Pravaah apart for its low carbon footprint, as opposed to concrete or steel.
Progam-wise, the Pravaah office layout is thoughtfully designed to promote simplicity and a natural flow.Strategically located at a prominent road intersection, the building’s drought-resistant flora is steadily complemented by an inviting white entrance designed by The Grid architects, nudging one to step inside, where spaces maintain the elegant white theme. Sunlit cabins with skylights and glimpses of an enclosed water feature emphasize biophilic elements for well-being, exemplifying a sustainable vision without compromising familiarity and comfort.
