Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, marks triumph of Lord Ram over the 10-headed demon king Ravana, who had kidnapped his wife Sita. The festival symbolises the victory of good over evil and marks the end of Durga Puja.

Dussehra is celebrated on the 10th day of the month of Ashvina, the seventh month of the Hindu calendar. It also marks the beginning of preparation for Diwali, which falls 20 days after Dussehra.
